Just saying hi ...

Hi

I just found out about this forum from an article in the Daily Mail. I think it is a great idea to have somewhere where long term survivors can chat and share ideas.

I'll probably say a little more about my cancer story soon. For now I'd just like to share my two favourite quotes:

"Life may not be the party we expected, but while we're here we may as well dance" (author unknown)

and my favourite favourite : " We are not defined by our scars but by the incredible ability to heal" (Lemn Sissay)

Hi l also joined after seeing the article in the mail. Cancer can be a very lonely road even with a close family who have been wonderful unless you have been there yourself you cannot really understand. I had breast cancer 14 months ago after surgery and radiotherapy l felt lost when it all finished.l think it helast enormously to talk to like minded people

Hi there you two, I also joined after the article in the mail. Today 4 year’s ago I went for routine mammogram....6days later, the news! Mastectomy, chemo, radiotherapy and herceptin. All done and dusted! But it isn’t! I said to my husband tonight that it was 4 yrs ago.....oh was it and carried on watching tv. I don’t blame him really cos what could he say! I think this site will help a lot of know that there are loads of us who, although we have finished treatment ......we feel almost abandoned. I’ve just be diagnosed with atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat which can lead to stroke!) as well .....might be treatment related....don’t know.... I’m 69 and very aware of my mortality....but each day I get up, pencil my eyebrows, put a bit of lipstick on and a big smile and I get on with living.

                                                                  Dear All,

I have had a colon cancer operation last September followed by gruelling chemotherapy! I finished the course a few weeks ago. The chemotherapy may have killed some cancer cells but I also feel that some of my remaining brain cells may also have been fried! I find it very difficult to concentrate and read books which I loved.I also have antagonized neighbours because of the noise of their children in their garden! I am aware my behaviour has completely changed What can I do? Please, respond as I feel very miserable!

Oh how awful for you l have exactly the same problem with noisy neighbours which really tests my patience especially when l am having a bad day. I think that each day is a new one and you have to try and embrace it.Have you told your oncologist or GP how you are feeling because there is help out there. Good Luck x
